# Liverpool linked with summer move for Napoli star Ruiz

Liverpool are keen on completing a summer move for Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, according to the [Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1258469/Liverpool-Transfer-News-Fabian-Ruiz-Barcelona-Real-Madrid-Bayern-Munich-Man-Utd-74m-Latest).

The likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Manchester United are all [interested](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1258469/Liverpool-Transfer-News-Fabian-Ruiz-Barcelona-Real-Madrid-Bayern-Munich-Man-Utd-74m-Latest) in signing him, too.

Ruiz is valued at £74 million by Napoli, having shone for the Serie A giants since joining from Real Betis in 2018.

The 23-year-old has previously caught the eye against Liverpool in the Champions League, with Napoli beating them twice in the last two seasons.

Although the Reds’ midfield is well-stocked, a lack of guile can be the one main shortcoming. It is a midfield full of industry, provided by the likes of Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum, but an extra dimension can be required at times.

Ruiz could bring just that, averaging [1.5 key passes](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/294193/Show/Fabi%C3%A1n-Ruiz) per game in Serie A this season, which is [more than any Liverpool midfielder](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool) in the Premier League.

A silky presence who can [dribble](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/294193/Show/Fabi%C3%A1n-Ruiz) with the ball but also get through lots of defensive work – [1.7 tackles and 1.2 interceptions](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/294193/Show/Fabi%C3%A1n-Ruiz) per match in 2019/20 – he is also younger than the Reds’ middle men, representing a long-term option.
