# Liverpool may look to Southampton’s Alex McCarthy

Liverpool could turn to Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy in their search for a new number one.

According to The Mirror journalist David Maddock, Liverpool may look to sign McCarthy if they are unable to secure a deal for Alisson.

Maddock claims that Liverpool have been priced out of a move for Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, with the Spanish outfit demanding £88m for the Slovenian.

Alex McCarthy was named Southampton’s player of the season last season, after a superb run of form that helped the club retain their Premier League status.

Liverpool now look set for a raid on the English shot-stopper, but only if they cannot strike a deal with Roma for Alisson.

The Reds have been heavily linked with a move for Alisson throughout the year thus far.
