# Liverpool named as a possible summer destination for Dembele

Ousmane Dembele is a potential summer transfer target for Liverpool, according to [AS](https://as.com/), as translated by [Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/liverpool-handed-signing-platter-even-club-executive-joking-transfer/).

Dembele is currently at Barcelona, but he has flattered to deceive since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2017. The La Liga giants are reportedly willing to sell the forward for €80 million this summer, with the Reds seen as a possible option.

The Frenchman is thought to be keen on a move to the Premier League, with Barca more than happy to sell.

I don’t think Liverpool should go near Dembele this summer, with the 22-year-old failing to live up to the type since his Dortmund days. He has only played nine times this season, scoring once, and there are serious question marks about his [fitness](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ousmane-dembele/verletzungen/spieler/288230).

While Dembele is a very talented young player, there is too much working against him joining Liverpool, with his [attitude](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2805709-didier-deschamps-says-ousmane-dembele-has-a-habit-of-being-late?share=sms) also questioned by some. The Reds have a [great team spirit](https://www.footballwhispers.com/blog/jurgen-klopps-mentality-monsters/) under Jurgen Klopp – the last thing they need is a disruptive, expensive influence coming in that might affect that negatively.

I would be surprised if Liverpool entertained the idea of signing Dembele, when they could instead focus on securing the services of [Timo Werner](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/02/19/liverpool-still-favourites-to-sign-werner/), who is not [only cheaper](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/media-watch/386497-klopp-ready-to-trigger-timo-werner-s-50m-release-clause), but a far more consistent performer in recent years, [scoring 27 times](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/130903/Show/Timo-Werner) this season.
