# Liverpool need to address home form, says ex-striker

Liverpool have a huge chance of finishing in the top four this season, if they can address their issues at home, says ex-Reds striker John Aldridge.

Writing in his column for the [Liverpool Echo,](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aldo-klopps-tactics-were-unbelievable-10491205) the former Republic of Ireland forward said:

> The problem Liverpool have got now is to sort out their home form. We’ve played all the main teams away from home and we’ve accumulated a nice amount of points, probably more than I expected if I’m honest.

> It was really only at Manchester United where we failed to get something. The Premier League fixtures felt like a fix with us travelling first to tough grounds like Stoke, Arsenal, Spurs, United, Everton, Chelsea and Man City.

> But we’ve managed to get 12 points out of those games with precious victories that we didn’t seem to get under Brendan Rodgers.

> If we can sort out our home form and get it better, we’ve got a massive, massive chance of getting into the top four.

Aldo is right too; West Ham and Crystal Palace both came to Anfield and left with three points while Norwich and Southampton both earned draws. In fact, in the league, Liverpool have only defeated relegation candidates Aston Villa and Bournemouth at home.

Their away form has been much better, and having faced arguably the seven most difficult away games of the season already, the Reds will know that they have a great opportunity to climb the table if they can start taking three points from their home fixtures.

When discussing why he feels the Reds struggle at home, Aldridge said:

> Teams come to Anfield and set up differently, they sit back and get men behind the ball. But Jurgen Klopp can find the solution and he’s got options now.

> He can play Firmino up front, he can bring \[Christian\] Benteke back, he can play \[Daniel\] Sturridge when he’s fully fit again. With Sturridge he’s got something different to offer with his movement and his finishing, Benteke is different again.

> He’a a very clever manager, Jurgen Klopp, and he will know what he’s got to do.

> Swansea are a side who will come to play their football on Sunday and that will give us the space to operate too.

Klopp’s men face Swansea, West Brom and Leicester in their next three home league games and will be looking to take maximum points from those three fixtures.
