# Liverpool offered late hope in pursuit of teenage sensation Bellingham

No team has made a bid to sign Liverpool-linked sensation Jude Bellingham as things stand, according to journalist Guillem Balague on [Twitter](https://twitter.com/GuillemBalague/status/1235870532425281536?s=20).

The 16-year-old is having an impressive season in the Championship, [scoring four goals and registering two assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/379868/Show/Jude-Bellingham).

Bellingham has been [tipped](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/02/26/whelan-tips-birmingham-to-sell-liverpool-target-bellingham/) to join Liverpool recently, but Balague has provided an update on the situation.

The Spaniard claims that Borussia Dortmund are interested, but have not stepped up with a formal bid yet. The Reds will take heart from the fact that a deal isn’t close to being agreed, despite previous reports from the [Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/03/04/borussia-dortmund-confident-completing-jude-bellingham-signing/), that claimed the Bundesliga side were confident about securing a deal.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

Bellingham is an exceptional prospect, having stepped up to Birmingham’s first-team squad at such a young age and Liverpool signing him would be another major coup, in terms of strengthening the academy and planning for the long-term.

He has been [likened](https://talksport.com/football/668758/jude-bellingham-steven-gerrard-birmingham-man-utd-chelsea/) to Reds legend Steven Gerrard, which says a lot about his potential moving forward.

It would be no disaster if Dortmund signed him instead, though, but just being linked with such a special talent speaks volumes about the Reds’ standing in the current game.

There was a time when attracting top young talent felt unlikely, but Liverpool are now one of the more attractive club sides in world football, following their recent European success.
