# Liverpool Player Ratings: Barcelona (A)

A clinical Barcelona downed Liverpool 3-0 at Camp Nou in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.

Lionel Messi scored a brace, while Luis Suarez netted the other for the Catalan side.

After a high-octane start to the game, where both teams were pressing high and creating turnovers, Jordi Alba produced a good cross in the 26th minute to dovetail with the run of Suarez, who then flicked it past Alisson to give his side the lead.

Sadio Mane then had a great chance to score, but he skied his effort from a close range.

At the start of second half, Liverpool had three chances, two of them to James Milner and one to Mohamed Salah, but Marc-Andre Ter Stegen saved the lot of them to preserve his clean sheet.

Around the 75th minute, a bit of fortune fell towards Barcelona that led to Messi scoring in an open net, after Suarez had hit the bar.

A moment of genius from Messi made it 3-0 seven minutes later, when the Argentina star scored a free-kick from 30 yards out.

Liverpool had a great chance to pull one back, but Roberto Firmino’s effort was cleared off the line and Salah hit the post on the rebound.
