# Liverpool target Berge ‘open’ to Sheffield United move

Sander Berge is ‘open’ to the idea of joining Sheffield United, according to [*HLN*](https://hln.be/), via *[Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/player-now-open-signing-sheffield-united-structure-deal-key/)*.

Berge impressed for Genk in the Champions League this season, twice taking on Liverpool in the group stage.

The Reds were [linked](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/12/16/berge-plays-down-reports-linking-him-with-move-to-liverpool/) with a move for the Norwegian, but rumours have cooled of late.

Sheffield United now look like the front-runners to sign Berge, with this [latest report](https://sportwitness.co.uk/player-now-open-signing-sheffield-united-structure-deal-key/) claiming a €20 million bid has already been rejected by the Genk.

The Belgian club are looking at the possibility of selling him this month, but keeping him in their squad until the end of the season.

Berge’s effortless class caught the eye against Liverpool on both occasions and I thought he looked a strong fit for the Reds.

Elegant on the ball but also hard-working and physical, the 21-year-old’s [lack of an assist](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/321020/Show/Sander-Berge) all season is a shortcoming, however.

In my opinion, Berge would be a good signing, but midfield is not a pressing area for Klopp to improve in.

Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum are in magnificent form, Fabinho is back from injury and the manager can also call upon Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Adam Lallana.
