# Liverpool’s ability to win “ugly” is key, claims Dyche

Liverpool’s ability to churn out gritty victories is the key to their Premier League title charge, according to Sean Dyche.

The Reds are eight points clear of Leicester City currently, as well as holding an 11-point advantage over Manchester City.

In the past, Liverpool were unable to win in ugly fashion, often dropping sloppy points.

They are now mastering the art of scoring late and winning when they don’t play well, though, which is vital.

Speaking to [*inews*](https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/sean-dyche-manchester-city-burnley-injuries-1330473), ahead of Burnley’s clash with City on Tuesday evening, Dyche claims Liverpool’s new-found ability to get over the finish line has given them an edge over the champions:

> Liverpool are learning that when it’s not quite their day they can win. They can win ugly when they have to. I think that’s a big step forward.

> If you want to win the title you’ve got to win as many games in as many different ways as you can.

> I think Liverpool have moved forward with that. I think they had a tight one on Saturday, but they won, and I think that’s an important factor.

> I think City are still a top side but even at their level if they get a couple of injuries it affects the balance of the side and the way it operates.

Jurgen Klopp’s side haven’t often hit top gear this season, but they are now a ruthless force who know how to get the job done.

In years gone by, numerous points would have been dropped by now, but instead, their only slip-up was the 1-1 draw away to Manchester United.

If Liverpool do end up as Premier League champions next May, their ugly edge will have played a huge part in their triumph.
