Lovren allegedly provided a false testimony in the trial of former Croatian football administrator and sports agent Zdravko Mamic.

The defender could now face anywhere between six months and five years in prison, alongside Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric.

They are both said to have illegally pocketed 50% of their transfer fees and were given money by Mamic’s son, who was their agent.

Mamic is set to fight the case and it is claimed that it could take years before a final verdict is made and Lovren is facing a prison sentence.

The transfer in question is Lovren’s move to Ligue 1 side Lyon from Dinamo Zagreb in 2010.

Liverpool are yet to make a comment on the situation.
