# Man City fans complain about media praise for Liverpool

Gary Lineker is one of the most recognisable media personalities, so when he makes a comment about any matter, he tends to attract attention.

Therefore, when he tweeted praise about Liverpool and their current 13 point lead at the top of the Premier League table, it was no surprise to see football fans having a dog at him.

> Liverpool are 13 points clear with a game in hand. That’s nuts at this stage of the season. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

A few of those having a go at Lineker, or the media in general, just happened to be Manchester City fans who don’t like that Liverpool are getting praised and seem to think that the Reds are getting more plaudits than City side got during their back-to-back title winning seasons.

> Don’t hear anybody complaining this year that they are ruining the PL Or hearing pundits spending every opportunity to tell everyone how to beat them. It seems that only happens when City are leading [#redmediaagenda](https://twitter.com/hashtag/redmediaagenda?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

### Read Liverpool verdict

To be fair, there were comments made last year about how it would be bad for the league if City went on to dominate it like Juventus have in Italy, or PSG have tended to do in France.

However. I think that’s exactly why there is no criticism this year. Liverpool are a new story, having not won the title for 30 years, and the fact they are preventing Man City from romping away with the title will be seen as a good thing by many media personalities.

City fans probably think that members of the media are out to get them and that they’re desperate to praise Liverpool but I don’t think that’s the case.

City got a lot of praise, with many observers calling them the best team in the history of English football, but there was a worry that they could dominate for too long.

If Liverpool go on to dominate for years, which is a huge assumption to make, then they too will hear the ‘boring’ and ‘bad for the game’ comments that City fans noticed.
