# Man United leading the race to sign rumoured Liverpool target Havertz

Manchester United are leading the race to sign Kai Havertz, according to *Bild*, via the *[Express](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1215717/Manchester-United-transfer-news-Kai-Havertz-Bayer-Leverkusen-Barcelona-Liverpool)*.

The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is rated as one of the most promising young players in the world, with many of Europe’s heavyweight clubs linked with signing him.

Liverpool are one of those who have been tipped to make a move for Havertz, but it appears as though United are in pole position.

They are showing more interest than any club, with the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich also mentioned.

Liverpool’s bitter rivals are looking to inject new blood into the side, particularly in attacking midfield areas.

If the Reds lost out to United in the battle to sign Havertz it would have to be considered a blow.

The [£81 million-rated](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/kai-havertz/profil/spieler/309400) 20-year-old is a hugely gifted player, with many regarding as the future of German football.

Should Liverpool show genuine interest, though, they would surely represent a more exciting proposition than United currently.

It could be a transfer saga that dominates next summer, assuming a deal isn’t agree with someone before then.
