# Matip and Fabinho fit for Man United clash, confirms Klopp

Joel Matip and Fabinho are in contention to start for Liverpool against Manchester United this weekend, Jurgen Klopp has confirmed.

The two bitter rivals meet at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, as the Reds look to carry on their [imperious Premier League form](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/table).

Liverpool’s injury problems are easing all the time and two returning key men could feature prominently this weekend.

[Speaking](https://twitter.com/TheRedmenTV/status/1218164748853940224?s=20) in his pre-United press conference on Friday, Klopp said Matip and Fabinho were fit again, following lengthy absences:

> Joel and Fabinho trained completely normal yesterday, so that means they are likely to be in the squad for Sunday.

Meanwhile, Dejan Lovren, James Milner and Naby Keita are still [missing](https://twitter.com/JamesPearceLFC/status/1218164537846878209?s=20) and won’t be involved.

Having Matip and Fabinho back is a huge boost for Liverpool, in my opinion.

[Matip](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/368118-joel-matip-named-pfa-player-of-the-month-for-september) was Virgil van Dijk’s strongest centre-back partner before getting injured – Joe Gomez has taken that role now – while [Fabinho](https://www.espn.co.uk/football/english-premier-league/story/3974765/fabinho-has-become-liverpools-most-important-playerand-he-showed-why-vs-tottenham)‘s influence in the No.6 role was enormous.

I don’t expect either to start on Sunday, however, with a lack of match practice not ideal against United.

In fact, I believe it could easily be an unchanged starting lineup from the team that [beat Tottenham 1-0](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50990598) last Saturday, with Adam Lallana for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain the only possible change.
