# Matip’s hilarious Merseyside derby antics cheer up Liverpool fans

[Liverpool’s 2-2 draw](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54489179) with Everton on Saturday was a game that left many Reds seething after it.

Going into the match, the hope was that Jurgen Klopp’s men would bounce back from their [7-2 defeat](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54313270) at Aston Villa, produce a strong performance and pick up a richly-deserved three points.

As it turned out, however, a hugely dramatic Merseyside derby occurred at Goodison Park, with Liverpool on the wrong end of endless poor decisions.

Jordan Pickford somehow went unpunished for a potentially season-ending tackle on Virgil van Dijk, with the latter suffering an [ACL injury](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/10/18/van-dijk-ruled-out-for-months-with-cruciate-ligament-injury/) and being ruled out for several months, at least.

There was also the controversy of Jordan Henderson having a stoppage-time goal ruled out for offside, with Sadio Mane seemingly level with Everton’s defenders in the build-up.

Sandwiched in between those incidents was Richarlison’s sending off, after the Brazilian produced a dreadful tackle on Thiago.

While the moment in itself was another one to anger Liverpool fans, hilarious footage has emerged of Joel Matip storming up to the referee with a comical walk, not that he was trying to be funny:

These Reds supporters have been reacting to the clip on Twitter, finally managing to laugh about something since Saturday’s action.
