# McGinn praises “relentless” Liverpool’s never-say-die attitude

Liverpool’s winning mentality came to the fore emphatically on Saturday afternoon, as they overturned a late deficit at Aston Villa.

Losing 1-0 with just four minutes left on the clock, Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane both scored to secure an invaluable 2-1 victory.

The Reds are making a habit of leaving it late to score, but it is no fluke on their part.

[Speaking](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1199576/Aston-Villa-John-McGinn-Liverpool-news-Jurgen-Klopp-Pep-Guardiola-Manchester-City) after the game, Villa midfielder John McGinn hailed Jurgen Klopp’s side as “relentless”, saying their ability to grind down the opposition is part of their brilliance:

> They just keep going and probably tired us out too much right at the end.

> Chances were coming and we were just trying to keep them at bay but the ball just keeps coming back at you.

> They are relentless. It was the same with Man City last week, they just drain you mentally.

> You try your best to press them but they are top teams and full credit to them.

Liverpool fans had to watch Manchester United endlessly win matches late in the day during the 1990s and 2000s, making for painful viewing.

In hindsight, Reds supporters can look back and appreciate United’s never-say-die attitude, though, which has now been perfected by Klopp’s men.

This team simply never knows when it’s beaten, which is the hallmark of champions.

Liverpool have fallen behind in their last three Premier League fixtures – United, Tottenham and Villa – but not lost in any of them.
