# Milner pleased with ugly win

Liverpool vice-captain James Milner said that the conditions at Anfield had a huge impact on the quality of the game, but in the end he’s happy that his side managed to secure a much-needed home win over Swansea City.

Speaking to[Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11669/10084461/jurgen-klopp-hails-perfect-result-as-liverpool-beat-swansea) after the game, Milner said:

> It wasn’t the prettiest of games and we didn’t play well, but we got the win and I think that’s what good teams do. It was tough conditions and tough for both teams, but it was all about getting the three points.

After a weekend where almost every result went in favour of the Reds, Jurgen Klopp’s men were able to take full advantage and take all three points which catapulted them into sixth place in the Premier League table, after Milner’s penalty was enough to defeat a Swansea side that worked hard but ultimately lacked any real goal threat.

Liverpool are now just four points behind fourth-placed Arsenal, and just six points behind league leaders Manchester City, and with their next league game being an away trip to a struggling Newcastle side, the opportunity is there to close those gaps once again.

The England midfielder also spoke about the returns of club captain Jordan Henderson and striker Daniel Sturridge, both of whom made substitute appearances in the second half:

> \[It was\] brilliant to see them out there. They’ve both been big misses for us and it’s great to have them back. It shows the strength in depth in the squad.
