# “Our mindset is different” – Wijnaldum on Liverpool’s never-say-die attitud

Liverpool’s ability to dig deep in games this season has played a huge role in them being six points at the top of the Premier League.

The Reds have found themselves in a number of precarious situations this season, but Jurgen Klopp has instilled a winning mentality in his players.

Last weekend’s 2-1 win at Aston Villa was Liverpool’s latest and most dramatic victory yet this season, but they have also dug deep against the likes of Sheffield United, Leicester City, Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal in recent times.

Wijnaldum has [explained](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2019/11/gini-wijnaldum-explains-how-liverpools-mentality-has-changed-in-the-title-hunt/) Liverpool’s new-found never-say-die attitude, saying the Reds simply never know when they are beaten:

> We just create that thing that we know we always can turn things around,” said the Dutchman.

> We always have that feeling, to stay positive. That’s also because of the results we had until now, and the way we came back.

> Our mindset is different, which is quite good, because we keep doing the things we want to do in a game.

> Normally if you are 2-0 down, your body language is going to change, but we still have that mindset that we can still turn it around.

> It’s because of the belief we have in each other, but also the results we have had. We have \[turned games around\] a lot of times. That gives confidence.

> If it just happened once, it’s not the same. But it happened over and over. We know we are a team that can always come back from difficult situations—but of course we don’t want to let it go that far.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

Manchester United put Liverpool supporters through hell during the 1990s and 2000s, popping up with endless late goals under Alex Ferguson.

Klopp’s men are now doing exactly the same and it is no fluke.

There is a reason why the best teams so often score late – they have unlimited belief and their opponents eventually wilt under the pressure.

Liverpool’s late heroics this season has been the stuff of champions, and hopefully, Jordan Henderson will be hoisting the Premier League aloft next May.
