# Owen calls Liverpool “one of the best club teams we have seen”

Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen has described this Reds side as “one of the best club teams we have seen.”

Jurgen Klopp’s men couldn’t be in a better place right now, sitting eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.

They have only dropped two points in their 16 league games this season, and on top of that, they are the reigning European champions.

Liverpool made it through to the last-16 of the Champions League on Tuesday, winning 2-0 away to Salzburg.

Owen has been on *BT Sport* duty for the midweek European action and he has [hailed](https://www.rousingthekop.com/2019/12/12/michael-owen-calls-liverpool-one-of-the-best-club-teams-of-our-lifetime/) the Reds as a truly great team:

> Six months ago I thought it couldn’t get any better. Winning the Premier League is the holy grail for Liverpool now but apart from that can it get any better?

> This is one of the best club teams we have seen in our lifetime.

> It’s a phenomenal team and it’s right up there with the great Manchester United sides, Chelsea under Jose Mourinho and Man City. It’s just an unbelievable team.

Owen may not be the most popular person among Liverpool fans these days, but this may help enhance his reputation.

The ex-Reds striker is spot on, too, with Klopp’s side threatening to be an all-time great English club outfit.

They just need that elusive league title to seal greatness – another Champions League crown would do nicely as well.
