# Performance report of Liverpool stars in Netherlands’ win over Germany

The Netherlands beat Germany 3-0 in a UEFA Nations League game at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam. Goals from captain Virgil van Dijk, Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum sealed the deal for the Dutch, who by the far were the more clinical of the two teams on the night.

The Germans were slow and pedestrian in their build-up and missed some good chances in front of goal. Leroy Sane and Timo Werner guilty of not hitting the target when given a clear sight of goal with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Meanwhile, the Oranje’s young guns were attractive, exuberant and determined to down their opponents. Depay led the line well with able support from Wijnaldum and Frenkie de Jong in midfield.

Here’s how the two Liverpool stars performed in the game:

### Virgil van Dijk

Van Dijk was a defensive wall alongside Matthijs de Ligt. The captain scored the opening goal of the game when a former Red Ryan Babel hit the crossbar, and the rebound fell kindly into the path of the 27-year-old.

The impressive thing about the centre-back was his leadership and constant organisation of a fairly young defence. He constantly marshaled his troops from the back, and performing impeccably himself to set an example.

If he is “laid back” and plays this well, we should be hoping for him to stay this way.

### Georginio Wijnaldum

Wijnaldum is slowly growing into one of the most impressive central midfielders in Europe. He converted his good start to the season by playing well for his national team.

The 27-year-old possesses the attributes to dominate a midfield with and without the ball. Scored an impressive third goal of the game to round up the embarrassment of the Germans.

Gini is certainly emerging in stature game by game this campaign.
