# Pundit claims Liverpool are keen on signing White this summer

Liverpool are eyeing up a summer move for Leeds United star Ben White, according to former goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

White has enjoyed a superb season at Elland Road on loan from Brighton, [playing in every single Championship game](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322036/Show/Ben-White) and guiding his side to the top of the Championship.

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-paul-robinson-claims-liverpool-are-signing-fantastic-leeds-player/), Robinson appeared to confirm Liverpool’s interest in the 22-year-old.

> He has had a fantastic season and I suspect Liverpool would look at him to play alongside Van Dijk, and or Gomez.

> Lovren has not had a lot of game time but he is improved. If he leaves they will be looking at somebody like Ben White to come in.

White is a very exciting young defender, who has been [tipped to become](https://tbrfootball.com/eddie-gray-discusses-tremendous-leeds-defender-ben-white/) a ‘top player’ in years to come, so it is encouraging to see the Reds linked with him [once again](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2019/11/20/liverpool-have-a-genuine-interest-in-ben-white/).

That being said, his potential arrival could block Nathaniel Phillips’ path into the first-team, which could be one negative behind the move.

Phillips is on loan at Stuttgart currently, but has played once for Liverpool this season, in the FA Cup against Everton. He has risen through the academy, with a first-team future at Anfield the ultimate aim.

He is the same age as White, however, so if they’re being ruthless, the Reds may simply believe the Leeds man is simply a better option moving forward, meaning Phillips could have to find a new permanent club in the long-term.
