# Reliable journalist confirms Elliott will face Shrewsbury

Harvey Elliott will be available to face Shrewsbury Town in Liverpool’s FA Cup fourth round replay next week, according to the *Telegraph*‘s [Chris Bascombe](https://twitter.com/_ChrisBascombe/status/1222288029143982080?s=20).

It has been a controversial few days for Jurgen Klopp, after the Reds manager [confirmed](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2020/01/jurgen-klopp-says-he-wont-manage-liverpool-in-fa-cup-replay/) that he and his senior squad would play no part in proceedings on February 4th.

Liverpool will undergo their winter break during that period, with Klopp refusing to alter the schedule.

Elliott has been involved with the first-team this season, making [six appearances and also sitting on the substitutes’ bench five times](https://www.lfchistory.net/Players/Player/GamesPerSeason/1337-129).

He could easily have been kept away from the Shrewsbury clash, but in a response to a question on Twitter, Bascombe has said that Elliott will be with his fellow youngsters at Anfield:

> Yes. Elliott will be in squad. [https://t.co/6n1DKTe9it](https://t.co/6n1DKTe9it)

### Read Liverpool Verdict

This is the correct decision, in my opinion, with playing time more beneficial to Elliott than not being involved.

At 16, he will still be one of the youngest players on the pitch, but he will be a key figure for Liverpool.

In his short time at the club, Elliott has already shown what a special talent he is, not least after an [eye-catching debut away to MK Dons](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkYvGRstZec) in September.

I also hope to see Curtis Jones used in the game, although I feel he is now more likely to be deemed an established squad player by Klopp.

It may mean Liverpool’s Under-23s captain plays no part, making an already under-strength Reds side even weaker.

I expect to see something similar to the team that [lost 5-0 at Aston Villa](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50723225) in the Carabao Cup, making progression to the fifth round difficult.

Shewsbury will fancy their chances of going to Anfield and winning, using their experience and physicality to their advantage, as Villa did.
