# Sancho won’t be sold in January, claim Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund will not sell Jadon Sancho in the January transfer window, according to *[Sport Bild](https://www.bild.de/bild-plus/sport/fussball/fussball/bvb-weiter-wilde-england-geruechte-um-jadon-sancho-73394084,view=conversionToLogin.bild.html#%23%23wt_ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.express.co.uk%2F&wt_t=1602684865691###wt_ref=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.liverpoolecho.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Fliverpool-transfer-news-live-mbappe-19106074&wt_t=1602749479931)*.

The 20-year-old was constantly [linked](https://utdreport.co.uk/2020/08/19/explained-manchester-uniteds-stance-on-jadon-sancho-personal-terms/?amp=1) with a move to Manchester United in the summer, but ended up remaining in Germany for the time being.

Liverpool have also been seen as [contenders](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/07/29/jadon-sancho-admits-he-would-prefer-liverpool-transfer/) to sign Sancho in the past, with Jurgen Klopp believed to be an [admirer](https://theathletic.com/2115449/2020/10/06/manchester-united-jadon-sancho-transfer-window/) of the England international.

It looks as though any hopes of signing Sancho midway through the campaign are over, though, with Dortmund hellbent on keeping him until next summer.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

I think Sancho is more likely to join Liverpool than United next summer, now that he has ignored the latter’s advances.

The Reds are simply a more exciting proposition now, not only in terms of winning trophies, but also because of the brand of football Klopp plays.

There was a time when United would always sign the top players over Liverpool, with [Cristiano Ronaldo](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/10/14/thompson-reveals-houlliers-reaction-to-man-united-signing-ronaldo/) a perfect example, but the two rivals are experiencing very different fortunes currently.

I also see Sancho as an ideal long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane, both of whom turn 29 next year.

Klopp must plan for the future as well as the present, and Sancho is tailor-made to slot in on one of the flanks.

The [£105.3million-rated](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jadon-sancho/profil/spieler/401173) winger has [scored 29 goals and registered 31 assists](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/346300/History/Jadon-Sancho) in the last two-and-a-bit seasons in the Bundesliga, enjoying similarly devastating end product as Salah and Mane.

Selling one of the current Liverpool superstars next summer, in order to receive a huge fee, may seem like a big risk, but it could make sense if it means being able to bring in Sancho.
