# Simeone picks out Klopp as his favourite manager – is he the best in the world?

Jurgen Klopp is surely a strong contender for being the best manager in the world currently.

The German has masterminded the best period at Liverpool since the 1980s, tuning them into European champions, and hopefully, soon-to-be Premier League winners.

Speaking to *[El Larguero](https://twitter.com/ellarguero/status/1182536306699784192?s=20)*, Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone picked out Klopp as a manager he admires as much as anyone:

> A manager that I respect? Jurgen Klopp without a doubt.

> He had to lose things, as well as winning some beautiful things, but he’s always done it with one style. I see him really close to his players.

As things stand, it’s hard to look beyond Klopp and Pep Guardiola when it comes to discussing the world’s best manager.

Simeone also deserves to be in the mix, but the Premier League pair feel in a world of their own.

Where Klopp has the edge is that he has built Liverpool from more limited resources than Guardiola has at Manchester City, albeit still spending plenty of money along the way.

He couldn’t be more perfect for Liverpool, whether it be his understanding of the club and the city, his style of play or his character.

The hope is that the German remains at Anfield for many years to come.
