# Sky Sports commentator claims Liverpool have heavily scouted Ben White

Liverpool have heavily scouted Leeds United centre-back Ben White this season, according to [Sky Sports commentator Gary Weaver](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11688/11969232/sky-sports-efl-podcast-who-makes-the-championship-team-of-the-season).

The 22-year-old has shone at Elland Road, helping Leeds to the top of the Championship.

Liverpool have been [linked](https://www.footballinsider247.com/leeds-united-ace-white-on-arsenal-radar/) with a move for the on-loan Brighton star and their interest appears to be concrete.

Speaking on the Sky Sports’ [EFL Podcast](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11688/11969232/sky-sports-efl-podcast-who-makes-the-championship-team-of-the-season) (06/04/20), Weaver revealed how closely the Reds have been monitoring White this season:

> Andy O’Brien, who’s a Liverpool scout, has watched almost every single game of Ben White. The big teams are interested.
>
> For me, there’s just that calmness and composure. He’s taken everything in his stride. He’s a top-quality player.

On the face of it, White looks an ideal man to come in and replace Dejan Lovren, assuming the Croatian [leaves](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/03/06/lovren-could-leave-liverpool-this-summer-after-almost-exiting-12-months-ago/) in the summer. A young English defender with bags of potential, the Leeds man also has a strong injury history – unlike Lovren – [starting every single Championship match](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322036/Show/Ben-White) in 2019/20.

Not only that, but he is also strong on the ball, completing [85.3 per cent](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/322036/Show/Ben-White) of his passes in the league, which is [superior to Lovren (83.4) and Joel Matip (83.1)](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/26/Show/England-Liverpool).

Brighton not willing to sell White could be an issue, but he ticks so many boxes when it comes to finding a new, reliable squad player at the back.
