# Steve McMahon believes Ramsey would be good fit for Liverpool

Former Liverpool captain Steve McMahon has claimed that Aaron Ramsey would be in a solid option for the Reds as the Welshman looks set to leave Arsenal.

Talks collapsed over a new deal for Ramsey, meaning he is likely to depart the Emirates Stadium this Summer.

Former Reds star McMahon, speaking on [Sky Sports’ The Debate](https://www.skysports.com/watch/video/sports/football/11541461/ramsey-to-liverpool), made the case for Liverpool to sign Ramsey, saying he would be a great addition to their midfield.

> Liverpool would do well to get him. He’s a midfield player who goes beyond the strikers and Liverpool haven’t got that.

> Liverpool have got good midfield players that play in front, they’ve got top strikers who score goals and have got pace, good defenders.

> But when it’s a bit of a stalemate, they haven’t got someone to go ahead, the third man running, not just to try and get a goal but to take the players away and open the space up. Ramsey is one of those players and is a goalscoring midfield player with great technique.

> At a club, you’ve got your levels. Arsenal have their level of a wage structure and Liverpool can well afford the Ramseys of this world.

Ramsey has spent several years at the Gunners since joining from Cardiff City. However, with talks collapsing over a new deal, the Welsh midfielder is almost certain to leave the Emirates.
