Liverpool supporters might need to rub their eyes at this one. Just when you thought you had seen everything in modern football media, Steven Gerrard has officially signed up to work for his oldest Manchester United rival. Following in the footsteps of his former Reds teammate Jamie Carragher, Stevie G is joining Neville’s rapidly expanding football brand to host a brand-new daily show.
Joining forces with old enemies
The former Liverpool skipper has agreed to join The Overlap Daily, a fresh YouTube venture created by Neville that will broadcast every single weekday at 4pm.
The daily programme aims to deliver supporters a complete rundown of the latest football news, heated debate, match predictions, and direct fan phone-ins. The inaugural episode launches on Friday, October 9, featuring a headline trio of Neville, Carragher, and YouTube personality Mark Goldbridge.
Gerrard, who resumed television punditry with TNT Sports earlier this season, takes on the hosting duties every Monday alongside sports broadcaster Becky Ives.
Taking to social media to confirm the move, Gerrard made his excitement clear to fans:
“Buzzing to be joining The Overlap Daily team. Plenty of football to get stuck into and plenty of opinions to go with it. See you there! @overlapdaily.”
— Steven Gerrard
For those of us who grew up watching Gerrard battle Neville across the fiercest Liverpool and Manchester United rivalries in Premier League history, seeing their names on the same call sheet takes some getting used to. But as Carragher has already proven over the last decade on Sky Sports, putting old Anfield and Old Trafford tribalism aside can make for extraordinary broadcast television.
A star-studded lineup across the week
Neville’s main podcast, The Overlap, has already generated over 38 million monthly views since launching in 2021, attracting massive sports icons like David Beckham, Tyson Fury, and Rory McIlroy. Now, this new daily schedule takes that brand to an entirely new level.
Beside Gerrard, Carragher, and Neville, The Overlap Daily has locked in a massive roster of former professionals and presenters. The lineup includes Joe Hart, Jamie Redknapp, Ashley Young, Tim Sherwood, Kelly Cates, Duncan Ferguson, Mark Crossley, Becky Ives, and Peter Schmeichel.
Following Gerrard and Ives on Monday, Tuesday’s show features Kelly Cates, Ashley Young, and Joe Hart. Wednesday sees former Tottenham duo Jamie Redknapp and Tim Sherwood take the reins. On Thursday, Everton legend Duncan Ferguson pairs up with former Wales goalkeeper Mark Crossley, before Friday brings Mark Goldbridge alongside Carragher, Hart, and Schmeichel.
Explaining the drive behind launching a daily broadcast, Neville admitted a major breaking news event highlighted a massive gap in their output:
“We have wanted to create a daily show for some time now. There was a moment in the last year where a manager was sacked and we didn’t have a programme for seven days – at that point we recognized that we needed to go for it. The quality and profile of our incredible host line-up speaks to our commitment to deliver the best insights and debate on the biggest football stories, and we’ll now be doing this daily.”
— Gary Neville
Simon Pitts, Group CEO of Global and Co-Chair of The Overlap, echoed those sentiments:
“The Overlap has created one of the most powerful football brands in the game by putting brilliant talent and genuine fan conversation at the heart of everything it does. Overlap Daily takes that ambition to the next level, creating a place for the stories and debates that matter, every day, with an incredible line-up of the best football voices in the business.”

What this means for Liverpool fans and Stevie G
From a fan perspective, seeing Gerrard back in the regular media rotation is a massive win for Kopites. While watching him collaborate on a Gary Neville production feels surreal at first glance, Gerrard’s tactical authority, unfiltered honesty, and deep connection to Liverpool will give Reds a powerful voice in the daily national media landscape.
Much like Carra, Stevie isn’t going to pull any punches just because he’s working on a Neville platform. Having our legendary No.8 breaking down the weekend’s action every Monday at 4pm will quickly become essential viewing across Merseyside.
