# Sturridge fighting to be fit for season opener

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is fighting to be fit for Liverpool’s season opener against Watford a week on Saturday.

Sturridge was forced off with injury against Bayern Munich earlier this week just moments after scoring the third goal in their 3-0 win.

The forward came off the bench, scored a goal, and was substituted. According to [The Telegraph,](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/08/04/huge-blow-liverpool-adam-lallana-ruled-three-months-thigh-strain/)Sturridge hurt his thigh.

They claim that he will not travel with the squad to Dublin, where Liverpool are set to play Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.

The Telegraph say that Sturridge is hoping to return to training next week in a bid to be fit for the start of the Premier League season.

It was announced earlier today that Adam Lallana faces a number of months on the sidelines with a thigh strain.

The England international will now miss Liverpool’s Champions League qualifier against Hoffenheim, although Sturridge looks set to return in time for the clash with the German outfit.
