# Suarez “suffered” after Liverpool defeat – it sums up Anfield fear factor

Liverpool’s miraculous 4-0 win over Barcelona last season completed one of the all-time great Champions League comebacks and it clearly had a damaging effect on Luis Suarez.

Speaking to *Fox Sports Radio* in Argentina, via the [https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/luis-suarez-opens-up-suffering-19444226](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/luis-suarez-opens-up-suffering-19444226)*[Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/luis-suarez-opens-up-suffering-19444226)*, the former Reds favourite admits it was a hugely tough period for him and his teammates after the defeat:

> It was days, weeks, that we who loved to take the kids to school, football, activities, we suffered. I did not want to leave from home after losing.

> It was very complicated. I really had a bad time, like most of my team-mates.

Barca’ 3-0 victory in the semi-final first leg looked to have sent them into the final – Liverpool were arguably the better team at the Nou Camp – but they fell apart on Merseyside.

The stunning comeback is one that will never be forgotten.

It’s clear that Barcelona’s players really suffered after that unforgettable evening, with their supporters left furious.

It once again show how special Anfield is on a European night, though – capable of suffocating world class footballers and making them look mediocre.

Without the home crowd that night, Liverpool would never have come close to progressing to the final, but they dragged them over the finish line yet again.

The more it happens, the more the legend of Anfield is enhanced – there’s a reason why the Reds haven’t lost there in the Premier League since April 2017.
