# Taiwo Awoniyi seals loan move to Mainz – does he have a Reds future?

Taiwo Awoniyi’s loan move to Mainz makes perfect sense, as the youngster continues to develop as a footballer.

The Bundesliga club, where Jurgen Klopp enjoyed a wonderful spell as manager between 2001 and 2008, [confirmed](https://twitter.com/1FSVMainz05/status/1158769830964674567?s=20) the news on Tuesday.

Awoniyi will spend the entirety of the 2019/20 season with Mainz, having been at Belgian side Mouscron last season.

Awoniyi’s departure from Liverpool is a logical one, considering how far away he is from being in the first team at Anfield.

The 21-year-old is yet to make an appearance for the Reds since joining in the summer of 2015, also being loaned out to the likes of Frankfurt and Gent.

There is every chance that the forward will never represent Liverpool, so continuing to send him out on loan during his formative years is the right move.

Eventually, Awoniyi will want to settle and find a permanent club, but this latest switch is another ideal opportunity to thrive in a different country.
