# The mind of a football fan. Rodgers in or Rodgers out?

The Internet can be a naughty place after a defeat. I see myself as a man who can control his inner chimp and try and look at things logically, but Tuesday night my chimp was really keen on letting the World (twittersphere) know what I thought of our beloved Redmen.

But I boxed it and decided to come back and write about it.

Sure, we can be angry, we can hate what we see; we can believe we know better. But one thing is for sure, we’re all not right. Rodgers in? Rodgers out? Lets have a look now we’re thinking straight.

**Rodgers out?**

It’s been a bad season start to finish, sure, we had a semi decent middle bit but points aside, we weren’t really playing attacking football and our goal return shows that, scoring less than half the amount of goals we scored last season.

Rodgers’ tactical flair seems to have left him, his ability to change things mid game being a good example. Last season I for one had a strong feeling that if we were in the game at half time, he would know how to sort it out in the second half. This season he’s really struggled to make an impact mid-game.

The signings he made last summer have just simply not met the demands, which were expected of them. Can be a for or an against because did we really believe Mario was a bad signing? No. Did we thing Lambert was a bad signing? No. Ultimately this is on the manager and if players he brings in fail then it falls on his head.

The failure to build on last year’s achievements seem to have made this season feel like one big hangover, right from the first game of the season, clawing a win against Southampton. I felt we were in for a long season then.

**Rodgers in?**

A year ago we were on the brink of winning the title (I know, 365 days ago, seems a long time right?). The season of 2013-2014 was magical, if defied the odds, it made it the most exciting Liverpool team of my generation (I’m 26), or the one in which I can remember. I put that down to Brendan, of course we had the SAS, but he made that happen, he worked out how to get them playing like that. For all the negativity this season I believe last season can be found again, he just needs to unlock it with his current crop of players.

His man management skills are second to none. A lot has been made of Raheem Sterling this season and all this contract palaver. But lets not forget that last season under Rodgers he became to be one of the hottest properties in Europe, all at age of 19/20. Rodgers gave him the chance and he’s shown that we might have some quality home grown players already within the club, look at Jordan Ibe – another fine example.

Injuries haven’t helped him this season, sure we have a much bigger squad this year so we shouldn’t be hit hard when injuries happen, but when you had Sturridge knocking them in for fun last season and you replace him with a slightly lazy figure of Mario Ballotelli, what do you expect? Yes I can hear you saying “well he should have bought XY & Z,” but who was available at the time? who could match either Sturridge or Suarez? Who wasn’t already playing for the likes of Real Madrid or Barcelona? My guess is no-one.

He’s modern and will always look for cutting edges; he’s not stuck in the Dark Age. Employing Dr Steve Peters was a massive step in the right direction.

**Personal view**

I’d like to point out that I am a real Brendan Rodgers fan. I have faith in the guy and although I was heart broken when Kenny got the axe, I don’t want another summer of moving stuff around. This guy has started a ‘project’, he loves the club and I’m pretty sure he’d die to help see it succeed. Lets give him our backing, another summer of helping the new players adapt to his way of working and I think you will see them flourish next season. The way I have looked at this season is that it’s been like 2012-2013 again, good flashes but ultimately failing as a season on the whole. It took those players a year to understand the system.

**Parting point**

We’re all in a rush to succeed and even more so at a club like Liverpool, we demand success. But let’s not be those fans that try and push a manager out of the door. It’s childish and very Chelsea or Arsenal like. Back the team and as a guy who is the best there is, the best there was and the best there ever will be once said ‘We Go Again’.
