# These fans react as Liverpool push to extend summer transfer window

Liverpool are one of the leading Premier League clubs who want the summer transfer window to revert to its old closing date, according to [https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/premier-league-clubs-want-to-extend-transfer-window-z35gnpm8x](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/premier-league-clubs-want-to-extend-transfer-window-z35gnpm8x)*[the Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/premier-league-clubs-want-to-extend-transfer-window-z35gnpm8x)*.

Top flight English clubs had until just August 8th to complete new signings this summer – the day before the new season got underway, when the Reds beat Norwich City 4-1 at Anfield.

Other European clubs were afforded the luxury of acquiring news players into September, however, with the cut-off date now having just passed.

There is reportedly “growing support for the early closure to be scrapped”, with a Premier League meeting taking place next week.

These supporters have provided their thoughts on the matter on Twitter.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

Although it was a venture worth testing out, allowing clubs to focus on league commitments, it hasn’t really worked.

All it has done is make the situation more complex, with some players allowed to leave late in the summer, but teams not allowed to sign individuals after a certain date in England.

In hindsight, it was never worth altering in the first place and is an example of the authorities making things more complicated for the sake of it.
