# These fans react to Coutinho wanting Liverpool return – would it have worked?

Philippe Coutinho wanted to reignite his love affair with Liverpool this summer, but a move never came to fruition.

According to *[The Athletic](https://theathletic.co.uk/1145029/2019/08/20/why-liverpool-were-right-to-snub-philippe-coutinho/)*, Coutinho was keen on an Anfield reunion, following his surprise failed spell at Barcelona.

Jurgen Klopp has already admitted he thought about re-signing the Brazilian and it appears as though the 27-year-old would have jumped at the opportunity.

Instead, he has moved to Bayern Munich on loan, after it was claimed the temporary deal was out of Liverpool’s price range.

These Reds supporters have been reacting to the news on Twitter.

> Bayern really got Coutinho huh?!? Wow! Why didn’t he go back to LFC? Only explanation would be they weren’t interested…

> £40m in loan fee and wages is ridiculous, personally I think LFC were right to reject the offer, especially if the €120m transfer fee was relevant too a season later. It's not a case of what we may think about Coutinho as a fanbase, it was just a bad financial deal imo.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

Coutinho would have brought undeniable quality to Liverpool if he had returned, looking to prove his worth after his dream move to Barca turned into a nightmare.

For all of his ability, though, the Reds have moved on without him and it’s difficult to find a place for him in their side.

Some may point to the fact that any player of Coutinho’s class will find a spot in the team, but the front-three is settled and the midfield wouldn’t necessarily be as balanced with the Brazilian in it.

Whether or not Klopp truly wanted him back is up for debate, but either way, Liverpool are in a healthier place than when Coutinho left 19 months ago.

In hindsight, he may regret ever leaving in the first place.
