# These LFC fans react as Anthony Taylor is announced as Arsenal referee

Liverpool host Arsenal on Saturday evening, which promises to be the most exciting Premier League meeting of the season so far.

Both sides have 100 percent records going into the game, having won their opening two fixtures of the campaign.

Anthony Taylor has been [announced](https://www.premierleague.com/news/1318834) as the referee for the weekend showdown, with his Manchester roots not always making him a popular choice among a number of Reds supporters.

Some fans have reacted to the news on Twitter.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

In truth, we live in a day and age where referees are scrutinised more than ever, and every official supposedly has a negative effect on your own team.

Taylor has actually [awarded](https://twitter.com/BassTunedToRed/status/1163819623088713728?s=20) Liverpool more penalties than any other side, when taking teams he has refereed more than 17 times into account.

His Manchester past does make it a little odd that he officiates so many Reds matches – 32 times, more than anyone else – but he is believed to support Altrincham, which if true, alleviates the issue.

There is sure to be some of controversy at Anfield on Saturday, particularly given the way VAR has started the season, but will Taylor get his decisions right?
