### READ LIVERPOOL VERDICT

If the news is true and Liverpool have tied Van Dijk down to a new deal, it is a fantastic bit of business by the club.

Van Dijk was recently crowned UEFA Player of the Year and is in the running to win the Balon d’Or for 2019 – along with the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Dutch central defender has been phenomenal since his move to Liverpool from Southampton in 2018 and was a key member of the squad as Jurgen Klopp’s side lifted the Champions League title.

Securing his future, especially for six years, can only be seen as a massive positive for Liverpool.
