# Valverde unsure if Barcelona will sign Philippe Coutinho

Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde has admitted he is unsure if the Catalan giants will sign Philippe Coutinho this month, according to a report from the [Evening Standard](https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/barcelona-head-coach-ernesto-valverde-unsure-if-they-will-sign-liverpool-star-philippe-coutinho-a3731716.html).

Coutinho has been a long-term target for the La Liga side, who had three offers rejected by the Reds in the summer, with many now expecting the Brazilian to join Barcelona this month.

However, when asked about Coutinho, Valverde admitted he prefers his own players and doesn’t know whether or not he will join this month.

> Coutinho is a player for another team, he is a great player, of course. I don’t know what will happen, but I like mine much more.

The playmaker has been in excellent form recently, scoring seven goals in his last eight matches, and hasn’t let the transfer speculation affect his performances.

Advertisements have given huge hints that a move could be completed very soon, with Barcelona shirts with the Brazilian’s name on the back leaked online.
