# Van Dijk a doubt for Huddersfield clash after suffering injury

Virgil Van Dijk has returned to Liverpool this weekend after suffering an injury whilst playing for Holland.

The central defender has been ruled out of Holland’s clash with Belgium on Tuesday night and was told to fly back to England for treatment on his knock.

Van Dijk has been struggling with a rib injury in recent week and the problem reoccured after his clash with Germany on Saturday.

The Dutch captain scored the opening goal as his side beat Germany 3-0 on the night.

[According to The Liverpool Echo,](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-news-transfers-live-henderson-15275996) Van Dijk is now a doubt for Liverpool’s clash with Huddersfield next weekend in the Premier League.

If Van Dik were to miss out, Joe Gomez and Dejan Lovren would be the likely partnership at the back.

Van Dijk has started every game for Liverpool this season and been in terrific form.
