# West Ham ‘in good position’ to sign Liverpool target Berge

West Ham are in a ‘good position’ to sign Sander Berge from Genk, according to *Bleacher Report*‘s [Dean Jones](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesBR/status/1213040394386194432?s=20).

The Norwegian impressed against the Reds in the Champions League earlier this season, with Jurgen Klopp thought to be an admirer.

Both Liverpool and Napoli were linked with making a move for the midfielder, but nothing has materialised so far.

It now looks as though West Ham could sign the 21-year-old, bolstering their options in the middle of the park.

The Hammers are also showing an interest in Benfica star Gedson Fernandes, according to *Sky Sports News*.

Berge would be an excellent signing for Liverpool if they did make an official move for him, but a January switch appears unlikely.

He would represent a long-term addition, with the likes of James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum all either over or approaching 30 years of age.

For the time being, though, West Ham could be the team who end up signing the Genk favourite.
