# What we learned from Takumi Minamino’s first day at Melwood

Takumi Minamino officially becomes a Liverpool player on January 1st, but on New Year’s Eve, he was at Melwood to meet his new teammates as well as Jurgen Klopp and his staff.

The Reds paid Minamino’s £7.25m release clause a few weeks ago and as we leave 2019 and enter 2020, he will officially become a Liverpool player.

The [official Liverpool website](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/380636-takumi-minamino-liverpool-first-day-melwood-photos) had a photographer and a videographer following the Japanese star around on his first day, capturing his every move.

Here’s what we learned from the footage and images they took.
