# Why Karius has to leave Liverpool permanently this summer

Loris Karius has been told to find a new club this summer, according to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-klopp-to-tell-liverpool-26-yr-old-to-find-a-new-club-amid-big-development/).

The 26-year-old is set to [return](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2020/02/25/karius-expected-to-return-to-liverpool-this-summer/) to Liverpool at the end of the season, having completed a two-year loan spell at Besiktas.

Karius’ stay on Merseyside is expected to be short, however, with the club [keen](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-klopp-to-tell-liverpool-26-yr-old-to-find-a-new-club-amid-big-development/) to move him on permanently.

### Read Liverpool Verdict

Sadly, I don’t think Karius can play for Liverpool again, following the nightmare he experienced in the [2018 Champions League final.](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44269004)

The mental damage that such a dreadful performance could have done means an element of belief may forever be missing in a Reds shirt, with [supporters](https://www.thisisanfield.com/2018/07/liverpool-fans-not-impressed-on-reports-loris-karius-to-remain-as-no-1/) also not trusting him in the stands.

This isn’t to say Karius is necessarily a bad goalkeeper – he is still [only 26](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/107176/Show/Loris-Karius) and can improve further – but there simply isn’t a need for him at Liverpool with Alisson and Adrian around.

I hope that he can build his career elsewhere, but I would be shocked if he ever represented the Reds again, having had such a nightmare in Kiev.
