# Wilson tipped to be a first-team option for Liverpool – has that ship sailed?

Harry Wilson’s hopes of making the grade at Liverpool haven’t yet gone, but he is running out of time.

The 22-year-old joined Bournemouth on loan in the summer, with first-team opportunities lacking at Anfield.

He has impressed at Dean Court, scoring three goals in seven Premier League appearances so far this season.

Speaking to [The Athletic](https://theathletic.com/1277610/2019/10/13/the-club-benefits-from-having-a-fearless-manager-if-he-sees-a-young-player-doing-better-than-an-older-one-he-will-play-him/?redirected=1), Liverpool Academy manager Alex Inglethorpe believes Wilson has a chance of being a strong squad option moving forward:

> He’s on the way to maybe being a first-team option.

> I think he’s realistic enough to know he wouldn’t come back from his loan and take someone’s spot straight away, but he could maybe put pressure on positions 12, 13 and 14 on the bench, and make an impact playing in a percentage of games each year.

There is no denying Wilson’s quality as a player – in years gone by, he may even have started regularly for Liverpool.

The Wales international finds himself in a situation where he is trying to break into arguably Europe’s best team, however.

He is up against world-class players, so it is understandably going to be tough to earn sufficient playing time.

Next summer looks likely to be the moment where Jurgen Klopp has a key decision to make.

He will likely either take a punt on the young forward or accept that his time is up at Liverpool, with the club earning a healthy fee in the process.

It would be nice to see him given a chance, but equally, there are doubts over whether or not he is quite good enough for Liverpool.
