# Woodburn set for new Liverpool deal

Liverpool are set to hand Wales hero Ben Woodburn a new deal to reward him for his impressive form of late.

[According to The Mirror,](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-starlet-ben-woodburn-set-11124709) Woodburn is set to receive a pay-increase to £25k-per-week, whilst he is currently on £40k-per-year.

This will only come into effect, however, once he turns 18-years-old. He is currently 17 and turns 18 in November, when he will be able to officially sign the deal.

This is because Liverpool have an in-house rule that does not allow young players to be on high wages, so not to diminish their drive and ambition by giving them too much money too soon.

Woodburn has been the talk of the town this week after impressing for Wales in their World Cup Qualifiers.

The winger came off the bench to score just minute into his senior Wales debut against Austria, to win the game.

He then picked up an assist against Moldova, setting up Hal Robson-Kanu for a goal.
