Casillas would certainly add experience to the Liverpool squad and will help to improve the fifth worst defence in the Premier League this season.

Casillas looks increasingly likely to leave Portuguese side Porto in the January transfer window and Klopp is keen to secure his signature before competition for him increases.

Simon Mignolet is currently the Reds’ number one, but has been dropped on numerous occasions after shaky displays.

36-year-old Casillas is assured between the sticks and has kept an impressive seven clean sheets in 10 games for Porto this season.

Klopp will most definitely address his defensive weaknesses in the January transfer window and starting with an experienced goalkeeper would be ideal.

Ex-Real Madrid shot-stopper Casillas has had a hugely successful career, with some of his achievements being winning the World Cup with Spain, the UEFA Champions League three times and the Spanish La LIga five times.
