# Arsenal not allowing Chamberlain to join Liverpool

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is reportedly [one of Liverpool’s top transfer targets](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2017/06/27/reds-set-snatch-midfielder-premier-league-rivals/) this summer, but they face an uphill battle in order to bring him to Anfield this summer.

Arsene Wenger, determined not to lose any of his key players this season as Arsenal look to break back into the top four after a disappointing fifth place finish last season in the Premier League, is refusing to sanction Oxlade-Chamberlain’s sale, especially to a League rival reports the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/628016/Arsenal-Transfer-News-Alexis-Sanchez-Alex-Oxlade-Chamberlain-Manchester-City-Liverpool).

Like a number of Arsenal’s key players including Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, Oxlade-Chamberlain is only contracted to the club until the end of next season and the Gunners are under pressure to tie him down to a new long-term deal or risk losing him on a fee transfer next summer.

It’s been claimed that the £25m-rated midfielder wants to up his £80,000-a-week wages, [something Liverpool are unwilling to do](https://readliverpoolfc.com/2017/06/29/oxlade-chamberlains-wage-demands-scupper-liverpool-move/) if they’re to bring him to the club.

With Arsenal’s firm stance on the matter, it may take Oxlade-Chamberlain requesting a transfer himself in order for the Reds to finalise a transfer.
