# Cameron Brannagan set for January loan

Young Liverpool midfielder Cameron Brannagan is set to leave the club on loan when the January transfer window opens up, with Bolton believed to be leading the chase for his signature according to the [Liverpool Echo](https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/liverpools-cameron-brannagan-set-january-12311154).

The 20-year-old broke into the first-team set-up last season and was handed nine appearances in all competitions but this term he’s been limited exclusively to U23s action.

Jurgen Klopp has planned to send Brannagan out on loan in the summer, with Wigan coming close to completing a move for the central midfielder but it fell through because the Latics wouldn’t agree on a clause which would see Brannagan play at least 75% of games.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Klopp looking for any potential taker to agree upon a similar deal, but the most important thing is for Brannagan to get out and play some first-team football to aid his long-term development.

Having fallen behind the likes of Marko Grujic and Ovie Ejaria, a loan move makes sense for all involved.
