# Four Findings: Liverpool 2-1 Leicester City

With new signing Virgil van Dijk arriving at Anfield, Liverpool was abuzz with excitement even though the heralded centre-half is unable to yet play. That anticipation quickly turned to agony as the Reds fell victim yet again to an individual error and surrendered a goal inside two minutes. Eventually, they were able to claw there way back for a 2-1 victory against Leicester City.

As glorious as it was to see Liverpool’s statement of intent with another record signing, the sickening sense of here-we-go-again served as a painful reminder of just how important the addition will be. Far too casual from the start, there was enough blame to go around the defence and midfield for the early blunder. Yet, Joel Matip must shoulder most of it.

For whatever reason, Liverpool sometimes seems determined to make everything harder. Against Leicester, their self-destructive impulse certainly materialized. Still, there is far greater resolve to right the wrongs than in recent seasons. The Reds ran rampant for a stretch of the first half without being able to make it count. Here, half time provided a welcome chance for the Reds to regroup and restart.

Grinding out the win was not easy but it always seems like it was coming. Shots from distance stayed on target and the Reds slowly unlocked Leicester’s defence with greater frequency. Too many times Liverpool carved open the Foxes only to be stymied by an offside call or do-or-die defending. It was another outing that required patience to persevere through the problems of their own making but they extended run to 15 unbeaten matches.

Here are four findings from the match.
