# Inter Milan to rival Liverpool for Keita next summer

Inter Milan will battle with Premier League club Liverpool for the signature of RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita next summer after the German Bundesliga club ruled out a sale this summer, according to a report by Calciomercato, cited by [Talksport](https://talksport.com/football/transfer-alert-inter-milan-join-race-liverpool-target-naby-keita-170731248621).

The Merseyside club have pulled out of negotiations for the Guinea international midfielder and will wait until next summer when a release clause of around £50m will become active in his contract.

However, Inter Milan have revealed that they will also make a move for Keita and are already planning their move for him from now.

The 22-year-old had told Leipzig of his desire for a transfer to Anfield this summer but the German club were adamant that they will not sell him in this transfer window.

Inter will open talks with Keita’s agent in an attempt to lure the midfield man to San Siro, but it is thought that Keita would prefer a move to Anfield.

A move could also depend on how successful each team is in the upcoming season, with Inter aiming to challenge for the Serie A as well as qualify for the UEFA Champions League, with Liverpool having similar ambitions in the English top-flight.

Jurgen Klopp is a keen admirer of Keita and won’t want the midfielder to move to any other club besides Liverpool next summer.
