# Liverpool have scouts watching Ricardo Pereira

Left-back has been a problem position for Liverpool for some time.

The Aly Cissokho experience failed miserably while Alberto Moreno has never been able to string a run of decent form together and make the position his own. At least James Milner has offered some much-needed rest-bite and dependable performances at left-back this season.

A long-term answer is needed, however, and Liverpool have been scouting across Europe to find a possible player to fill the void, and Porto’s Ricardo Pereira is someone they’re targeting, according to the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/586235/Liverpool-transfer-news-Ricardo-Pereira-target-Jurgen-Klopp).

The Portuguese international has spent this season out on loan with OGC Nice who have been one of the surprise packages of the Ligue 1 season thus far with Pereira playing a key role in the side.

Liverpool have had scouts watch the 23-year-old on several occasions this season but the report claims that they’ll face competition from Serie A giants Inter Milan for his signature in the summer.

Pereira can play both fullback positions and Porto are willing to sell him at the end of the season for £22m. Liverpool and Inter will have to fend off interest from Nico who do have a buying option built into his loan contract.
