# Liverpool taking interest in Maxime Lopez

Liverpool have begun to take interest in Marseille midfielder, Maxime Lopez, according to [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfer-news-rumours-reds-9217710).

The report says that Liverpool and Arsenal are both tracking Lopez as they weigh up moves for the attacking midfielder – who has been likened to Sevilla midfielder Samir Nasri.

The 18-year-old has burst onto the scene this season and has played five Ligue 1 matches this season for the French giants.

This has attracted interest from the Premier League – with Arsenal and Liverpool both closely following his progress.

The report claims that Liverpool scouts have been watching him, with them being on hand to see his first start for Marseille just over a week ago in Ligue 1.

Liverpool currently have a plethora of attacking midfield options at their disposal, who Lopez may be enticed to learn from.

Phillipe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have all been in scintillating form this season.
