# Liverpool target Chamberlain close to Arsenal exit

Liverpool target Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is increasingly likely to leave Arsenal this summer after contract talks between him and the London club stalled, according to Sky Sports reporter [Kaveh Solhekol](https://twitter.com/SkyKaveh/status/884740163821346816).

The England winger has been frustrated at the Gunners for some time due to the lack of playing time that he gets and is looking for a new club to gain valuable game time next season.

Arsenal had hoped that Chamberlain would eventually sign a new contract at the club but the winger is no closer to signing a new deal, with Liverpool ready to offer him a contract.

The Anfield club have been monitoring Chamberlain’s situation since the end of the season and are now ready to make their move for the player as he wants first team action to ensure he is on the plane to Russia for the 2018 World Cup.

The Gunners want to keep Chamberlain at all costs and definitely don’t want to sell him to a direct rival, but if the payer pushes the move then the club will let him go.

The player has ignored Arsenal’s efforts of enticing him to sign a new contract and has not been given the assurance of a starting spot at the club for next season, whereas Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has space for him to start at the Merseyside club.

Liverpool are yet to bid for the England player but with contract negotiations with Arsenal breaking down, a bid may be coming soon. The player is [valued at £25m](https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjnrpvNsIHVAhVJF8AKHc5rAL0QFggmMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.independent.co.uk%2Fsport%2Ffootball%2Ftransfers%2Farsenal-transfer-news-alex-oxlade-chamberlain-liverpool-giroud-wilshere-bellerin-arsene-wenger-a7804351.html&usg=AFQjCNGpVKlidyCJ76WwdYBIpBtTOKWxEQ).
