# West Brom to approach Liverpool for Mamadou Sakho

West Brom will attempt to sign defender Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool when the January window opens up, according to the [Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-defender-mamadou-sakho-lined-9225341?).

The French international centre-back is yet to make an appearance for the Liverpool this season after he fell out with Jurgen Klopp during pre-season which culminated in him being sent him from their pre-season tour of the USA.

In the meantime, Sakho has been working exclusively with the U23s and with his first-team future looking bleak, Liverpool are ready to let him go when the January transfer window comes around.

West Brom tried and failed with an approach for Sakho in the summer after the player himself rejected the move, but the Baggies are hoping that seeing as Sakho’s now realised there is no route back into the first-team this season, he will reconsider a loan move.

Liverpool have a wealth of talent available to them at centre-back with Joel Matip impressing since his arrival from Schalke, while Dejan Lovren, Ragnar Klavan and Lucas Leiva all impressing when called upon this season.
