Premier League duo Liverpool and Chelsea are ready to battle it out for the signature of Werder Bremen forward Max Kruse as both sides look to strengthen their attack for the upcoming season, according to a report on Sky Sports, who quote Bild.
Liverpool are hoping that the German international chooses Anfield as his preferred destination due to the fact that he may get more playing time at Merseyside than at Chelsea.

The 29-year-old forward was in superb goalscoring form last season in the German Bundesliga as he managed to get his name on the scoresheet 15 times in 23 appearances, making him one of the most sought after goal-scorers this summer.
Kruse wasn’t just a goalscorer and showed his creative side by also setting up seven goals throughout the campaign.
The forward has been valued at £16 million by Bremen and should that value be matched, the German club will not stand in the way of Kruse making a move away from the club.

The Anfield club had their hopes of signing Kruse renewed when Bremen manager Frank Baumann was quizzed on whether Kruse would remain with the club, to which he replied: “There’s no guarantee.”
The Reds have already added forwards Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke this summer.
